Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay was scheduled for shoulder surgery the day after his 36th birthday. Toronto’s R.A. Dickey, 38, is struggling. But other older pitchers are still enjoying success. Whether you play in season-long, daily, or weekly fantasy baseball, here are some names to know:

Hiroki Kuroda, New York Yankees (38 years old)

After four years of a 3.45 ERA and 1.187 WHIP while pitching for the Dodgers, Kuroda’s numbers figured to go up in Yankee Stadium and the American League East. Instead, Kuroda had a 3.32 ERA and 1.165 WHIP in 2012 while winning an MLB career-high 16 games. Kuroda got off to an even better start in 2013, going 5-2 in his first eight starts with a 2.31 ERA and 1.046 WHIP. Kuroda has a career ERA of 2.60 in 23 games at Yankee Stadium.   The NBA Rising Stars Challenge features the league’s top first and second-year players. The 11 second-year players include big names such as Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving, the top pick in the 2011 draft, and Minnesota’s Ricky Rubio, picked fifth in 2009, as well as top-ten picks Tristan Thompson, also of Cleveland, Detroit’s Brandon Knight and Charlotte’s Kemba Walker. Many of these players are becoming fantasy basketball favorites.
